MILK FED HERITAGE PORK

Here at shults farm we only use berkshire hogs for our feeder pigs. Pigs are on our farm in our integrated farming are pivotal.

We raise Vegetables, we produce milk. Instead of wasting any of these products they eat our waste. We feed no bread to our pigs, we only feed them vegetables, milk, hay, limited grain, and water. They do not have free choice grain like commercial hogs. We encourge them with hay and vegetables to munch and crunch through instead of grain.

There are many benefits to buying local pork.

  1. quality: Farm-fresh pork chops are known for their superior quality. They are often raised in smaller batches, allowing for better care, individual attention, and a focus on animal welfare. The result is meat that is often more tender, flavorful, and free from certain additives or hormones commonly used in industrial-scale pork production.
  2. Local Sourcing: One of the key benefits of farm-fresh pork chops is that they are locally sourced, which supports local farmers and reduces the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation. Consumers who seek to "buy local" or support their local agricultural communities often prefer farm-fresh products.
  3. Transparency: When you purchase farm-fresh pork chops, you may have the opportunity to learn about the farming practices used by the producer. This transparency can help you make informed choices about the meat you consume, such as whether the animals were raised in free-range environments, given access to pasture, or fed specific diets.
  4. Healthier Options: Some farm-fresh pork producers prioritize raising their animals with a focus on natural and sustainable practices. This may include using organic feed, avoiding antibiotics or growth hormones, and minimizing the use of chemicals. As a result, farm-fresh pork chops can be a healthier option for those who are concerned about what goes into the meat they eat.
  5. Variety: Local farms may offer a variety of pork chop cuts and preparations, allowing you to choose based on your preferences. This can include bone-in or boneless chops, thickness variations, and different flavor profiles.
  6. Availability: The availability of farm-fresh pork chops can vary depending on your location and the time of year. Some local farms offer meat through farmers' markets, farm stands, or community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs. It's a good idea to check with local farmers or visit a nearby farmers' market to find farm-fresh pork chops.
